Default Lamest GvG Strat Ever! Anet PLEASE do something

Today, We had the displeasure of falling victim to the waiting game for the victory in GvG. We were facing an undefeated 8 monk smite build and what started out as a great match, turned into one of the lamest GvG's we've experienced to date.

We won the flag stand and pushed the enemy back early on. At the 30 min. mark, we took down their npc's. Then started the whole waiting game.

I do not recall the map, but there was quicksand and the GL area is very small surrounded by walls and 2 small entrances from the front and side. In this tiny area the monks decided to ball up and smite anyone that came in. While in a healing ball the monks were able to stay up indefinately.

It became evident that their build could not beat us, and ours could not finish them off given their surroundings and the build utilizing it to it's advantage. The only choice for victory to be decided was through an open field battle.

The 8 monk guild however decided to wait us out unitll we dropped for the win. After 2 hours of waiting for them to come out and fight us, we were forced to resign due to members needing sleep.

What do you do in that situation? What happens in a stalemate given a particular build and the surroundings it's made for. How do you finish the match if not by waiting out the opposition? Should there be a time limit?

I'd hate to see this become the new trend in GvG. There must be a solution OTHER than waiting the other team out for the win given the situation.

You didnt pwn anything, except 2 hours from 16 peoples lives they could have spent with their family instead of being retards and camping in a video game that wont help you in the future.

Somebody is missing a huge opportunity to flame Thurston here, so I'm going to step up and take one for the team. How the hell can you say they sucked when you obviously couldn't kill them either? That is the most idiotic thing i've ever heard. "You guys suck since you couldn't kill us when we hid." I don't see you killing them. Talk about a trash build. "Hey, let's go heal ball with 8 monks, THATS a great idea. I'm sure we can kill LOTS of people that way." Oh, and if it's "screen shotted," (sic) why don't I see it anywhere?

there was a way to equip them about 2 weeks ago onto a pvp character, but it was patched so that you couldnt make the glitched characters anylonger.

Thurston

I will not pass comment on any team's builds. But you are a really sad individual for buffing yourself up there. You lost the game effectively, because YOU couldn't take down Mystic's team. They killed you more often than you killed them, otherwise they wouldn't have killed the NPCs and got control of the flag.

GW is indeed about tactics - my old guild had quite a few wins by actually using their heads. But camping is not tactics - it's a noob, last-ditch attempt at putting off defeat. Even if it works, it is not what the devs envisenged when they made the game. Trying to defend the GL until the team could get an advantage is one thing - waiting two hours for the other guild to disconnect, and not bothering to even try and get an advantage back, is the height of lameness.

It also probably indicates that you have nothing else better to do, so I can only pitty you

Yet another unoriginal griefing build designed to get a draw, and not a win. Congratulations for wasting your time and your opponents' time. Now you can proceed to stage 2: how can I make build to win instead of griefing my opponent.

I don't see the point of starting this thread, as we can see similar turtle builds from Random Arena players every couple of days. I don't see the point reporting this thread either. It's a stupid strategy, so take the responsability for using it. Mystic's teams was either stupid or desperate (guild rank) to waste 2 hours on this game.

Alright guys, there's a few things we need to pick out of this information before we make accusations and get all sour.
First off, as a member of TSF, you might expect me to root for Thurston and support everything he has to say. This will not be true here.
It sounds like it was a good guild match to start off with. When things turned sour is when TSF used their GL area as a barrier to arrows. This is a perfectly legitimate tactic. It was how we countered many ranger spikes and spirt spammers before. Camping there for an hour and a half is not a legit strategy.
However, given the situation, TSF didn't seem to have much of a choice.
If Thurston says you guys were cheating, and has pics to prove it, that is a MAJOR statement. Cheating vs. Camping does not look well on the cheaters. I personally don't know if that's true, but upon seeing the screenshot, I may say you guys deserved to lose.
Not in a sense that you lost anyway. TSF won by default. Default wins should not happen.
Yes, ANET should put a system in to where a never ending struggle will be resolved. Perhaps the guild lords should run out to the flag stand and attack each other until one is dead. That would take the camping strategy away, and place emphasis on moving as a group, and general protection of the team.
Having said all of this, I find it rude to criticize another team's build when ignorance is a major key factor. We play our own invented build. It's very difficult to run, and requires a special player to play it well. We are not a turtle build and can typically wipe out teams at astonishing rates. Furthermore, it is believed that we are undefeated because we use this strategy every time. In every GvG we've played so far, we have pushed everyone else to camping, so we know what it's like to wait on the outside. It sucks, but careful target calling, misdirection, timing, and overall skill usually breaks the stalemate.
Lesson:Let us GvG fairly from now on, and one shall prevail.

well, sanity has come back to this thread. Midnight, I agree with you here.
It was a stalemate, and I belief both guilds had not much of a way of winning this.
Thurston, I'm not sure if you realise this, but you are a bad advertisement for your guild. Why? I'd let you figure that one out yourself...
As for this glitch thing, report the abuser to ANet, and play on. Let them deal with it.

Back to topic: it is obvious that neither party will have had a great night here. I hope changes will be made (like 'the match has ended in a draw' ?) to prevent this boredom fest.

haha u owned them, seriously guys, this is getting out of hand, EVERY SINGLE GOOD BUILD is being whined at by lil faggots who cant take that someone else has a better build and better co-ordination, that monk build takes ALOT of practise and co-ordination to work in effect.. well done to you guys winning

flame..me i dont bitch on forums because I cant win..and midknight i know u dont agree with what i said; but u are correct with "It sounds like it was a good guild match to start off with. When things turned sour is when TSF used their GL area as a barrier to arrows. This is a perfectly legitimate tactic. " and Shadowdaemon is correct...we used tactics..we turned this street battle into an RTS...justify it as this....a ranger without boots fishy? indeed

Oh man-up and take the loss! You could have come in and taken our GL anytime to end the match. You are going to have to learn to turtle bust sooner or later and we just gave you your first lesson.
